i think its difficult.. Money management is used in Investment management and deals with the question of how much risk a decision maker should take in situations where uncertainty is present. More precisely what percentage or what part of the decision maker's wealth should be put into risk in order to maximize the decision maker's utility function. Money management gives practical advice among others for gambling and for stock trading as well. Money management can mean gaining greater control over outgoings and incomings, both in personal and business perspective. Greater money management can be achieved by establishing budgets and analysing costs and income etc.

Ahhh...lots of people are responding with good discussion points here. I find it difficult to a certain degree. I can pay attention to my finances and keep them more or less organized. But the self-discipline part is hard. Also, we tend to prefer time to money, so we work as little as possible. lol. As soon as I am caught up or any chance I get, I quit so I can have more time. That's probably not the way to financial independence. However, we are looking more into residual sources of income so that you work and then that work makes you money forever instead of just one time. That seems smart to me! But yes, it is difficult, I think, for most people. Myself included. Also, I think it is even harder when you have to share finances because the two people are likely to disagree. Ugh.

Hm..yours is the Best response here and will get best response from my side....here, i also agree to many points of yours....we prefer time over money when things are really getting hot and we tend to get tired of routine things.....lolz...and what was that about residual income you were talking? have you found any new thing which works....! it sounds really nice when we here it...here also, many of things like that have come like..... You also might have heard of "Amway" MLM-Multi- Level Marketing. Are you also talking of the same thing here ......what you meant residual income..! is it? making members in things like this is difficult......as, suppose if we are able to make to many members and if those members cannot move it, then the blame comes to us and ultimately we might also break our friendship...that is bad.so, i never believed in this....but, if you have found any new thing for residual income...don't forget me.....!

Yes, it's difficult to manage money, especially when you have emergencies that keep popping up; but it can be done with a lot of understanding about a budget (which includes money for emergencies) and living within your means. If you make $300 a week, don't spend $500. Don't use credit cards for everything you buy. Try to figure out if you really need something or just want it because everyone else does, etc. Always remember that one day you want to retire, so plan for that. Otherwise you'll be working all your life and never retiring and enjoying what you worked so hard for. It's no easy, but it can be done.

Yes, I'm very satisfied with how I manage my money. I work for a Financial Planner, and he has really taught me a lot about money management in the 6 years I've worked for him. I also listen to him on the radio each week (he's on the air for 3 hours every Sunday), and I learn a lot from his radio show. Thanks for giving me the Best Response.

to start with, yes, money management is difficult. u got to be very objective and calculative and finance literate. first divide ur income into categories, like, investment, expenditure, emergency finance....categorise ur investment into NSCs, post office savings schemes etc., insurances - life, medical, property.... and then u can save in mutual funds and shares. to start with u shud consult a CA or any tax consultant to get it done professionally. they wud knw the minute details of tax exemptions and investment good luck

I think you're making it too complicated. For someone just starting their budgeting, they are probably in debt or living paycheck to paycheck. For people in that situation, the main thing you need to focus on is getting your monthly bills paid, then the extra should be saved or put on debts. If you're financially stable, then you probably already have a working budget and have been managing your money well...in that case, you can start worrying about investments and mutual funds. Before you get your debts paid off, however, there's no point in investing. If you're in debt, why would you invest in something when you could invest in YOUSELF by paying off your debts. If you're paying off credit card bills, it's no time to start buying stocks and starting mutual funds.

If your priorities is right, your money mangement is right. If priorities is wrong and skew, your money management is skew. Money is not the most important aspect of life, Alienstar. Happiness is, your happiness is more important and of much more value than all the money in the world, or don't you think so?

I find money very difficult to manage and i always have, its something i just dont seem to be good at even though i always write out a budget i never seem to stick right to it even though im sure in the long run id be much better off. I wouldnt say its the most important aspect of life but it is certainly a necessary skill in todays world were money can be so tight especially while your trying to raise a family. Its something i really need to make an effort to work on.

I don't think managing is difficult, but it definitely take discipline. I sometimes would get lazy and miss my own appointment to manage my bill. Next thing you know, the bill would pile up.. and it become a difficult task to manage a pile of bill. If you spend a little bit of time everyday or every 2 days. It will be become a lot more manageble. I wrote an artcile my blog recently about 7 habits of highly effective money managers. Hope you find my article intersting http://www.edithyeung.com/2007/04/18/7-habits-of-highly-effective-money-managers

Just descipline is not enough here and if you think just discipline is enough for managing money, then you are absolutely wrong and i don't think i should prove my point here as you can try asking any of your friends about this and they will agree with me as it is not just discipline although discipline is needed for money management. It is really dificlt for anyone and not impossible as to master it, you should have desire and hard work Anyways thanks for responding

Yes, it is very important. But I don't know about it being the most important aspect of life. To me happiness is the most important, me being happy with or without much money. To manage money is all about priorities. If you have your priorities right, then you will manage money well. If your priorities are skew with money, you will suffer. I know how to manage money, but you know Alienstar, we learn by our mistakes. What do you think?
