Google Maps were driving around Wynnewood Village today. / myLot

I went out to the car to carry my bag of groceries with my wife as I looked out to the parking lot and what did my eyes see but a Google Maps car with a funny looking overhead camera circling around the parking lot taking pictures of things. I know Google Earth is a very informative application that lets you travel the earth and zoom in on almost any location and that Google Maps is used by most every business in town. I never saw a Google Maps car before. It was fun to see. I wanted to share this with you all to see if anyone else has seen one of these Google Maps vehicles in their area? Imagine taking pics of the planet in a Google Maps car? You would need to travel zillions of miles to get it all uploaded to the world wide web. This was quite a thing for me to see. First time I have seen Google at work in Dallas, Texas. What's next? Google Drones? Probably.

I thought you they only used drones to take pics??..wonder what the cars are for?

@vandana7 Could be they navigate drones from the car. Just a guess.

I have not seen or heard any drones around here. I have seen vans going by with cameras inside side windows. As far as images being taken from above, likely they are satellites in geosynchronous orbits around the Earth.

If only I had my Canon digital camera ready at that instant. Then I would have had a good pic to share.It's like that sometimes. I am almost inclined to start carrying around my Canon just for this reason. You never know what you might see when driving around the city.
