Sneak Bullet Controversy

Philippines
November 6, 2015 10:53pm CST
Hello mylotters, In my country, it's translated as the Popular LAGLAG BALA Scam and although it's been around for years now, only this month were it gained a huge popularity among the media causing shame not only to the Government, but also Filipinos who mostly live and work abroad with dignity. Though some people are happy that this scam had finally been exposed, there are other reasons why it became rampant. One, because Christmas is fast approaching and some needed extra cash to save and buy food or presents for the holidays. Two, another way to further destroy the credibility of the current administration to further shrink the popularity of their candidate. Well, what ever it is, it's hurting the ordinary tourist, whether foreign or local. They just don't have the heart. And the ones working in the airport that are not involved, suffers even more as they deal with passengers everyday.

The best thing is to know who are the real culprit behind this scam so the innocent ones need not suffer.

Im sure the culprit remains in the airport since they were just suspended and not fired! not even jailed. they were not given access to the airport, but they still work at the airport, nothing we can do about it.

You are the second one who has reported this. I find it not so cool that people do this to others to gain money. I feel this is wrong and soon nobody will want to travel to your country at all.

Although some filipinos were making memes out of this incident, It's getting on our nerves already as OFWs had been airing their deepest frustrations ever in this issue. Sometimes, i wonder why and how we are powerless against this kind of scam.

@poehere well, I can't really say rich 10$ is something they can just make people richer, but it has tarnish the entire country and the filipinos working abroad. some are actually hiding in shame in secret because of this.

@Letranknight2015 Because some people are getting rich on it so nobody wants to stop the money from flowing in.

@Letranknight2015 What's even more alarming is the presidential candidates. At least for me. People are making a joke out of it. Sigh.

@tecchigurl What Mar Roxas said was even more ridiculous, then he tried to change statements, which is already too late. I don't know why they couldn't make a swift action. But that's probably because it's a real mafia inside that even the higher management is aware of it.

I feel this is more happening lately because of upcoming election. This is probably a political motivated problem, opposition riding on the incident hurting the Administration even more. but at a price, hurting our local ofws and tourist as well, destroying our international reputation

it is extortion and blackmail - hopefully the media exposure will help to get the culprits captured once and for all

@arthurchappell Yup you are right on that, what's worse is that the one that was sent to jail was a missionary but luckily they recorded it. I hope this time it either lessen or put an end to their scam and save us the trouble of more embarrasment.

Here's how it goes, the passenger put his bag in the scanner, and secretly the staff implants a bullet and after the scanning, the personel would accuse the passenger of a bullet fraud. then, extort that person with money, and if that person doesn't pay, he or she won't go to their flight and instead be detained or jailed. anyways, i thought it's been aired across the globe. my mistake!

@Rationalwriter Well, Every one seems to be angry with this problem. but what's even more sad is that it's been around for a while and no one even bothered to compain about it. it took just one person to reveal it all.
