Why are the like and respond buttons so small?

Does this seem to be a problem for you guys? I keep forgetting to click the like button because I respond to the post and then forget to click like because it is small and disappears if you don't hover over it. Is there anyway to message somebody suggestions? If it was just a bit bigger and didn't disappear that would be great.

What I've never understood is why the buttons aren't visible all the time. Why this silly hovering? Many newbies don't notice the buttons at all.

not really small to me but i am on a computer..below a discussion to the right is Suggest on other people's discussions so you can suggest a discussion you like to others..

I am using a laptop and yes the buttons look relatively smaller. If they could match the font size of these buttons in line with the "author's name" (which looks slightly bigger), then it perhaps would help us a lot. Or as a second thought, does it look small since we are growing 'big' (old) these days, huh?
