Are we losing the courage to be ourselves or is it all just a trick of society?

My friend, the most common thing to see today are people that are fake, look fake and act fake. Is it because of the times that we live on? Is it all just a whole big conspiracy? The truth is sad but true. Since the 90's, the most rebellious times of modern era, the media started to be used as a control method to those that were 'knowing too much' and 'being too curious'. It all started at the USA, the media center of that time, and the media was created to influence, change and control. But the question is: how did that influenced the originality of people? Well, just look around. How many ads do you see with men and women with no trace of flaws? People with possessions and that are happy on these ads? You may not notice them, you may not care, but the subconscious damage made is beyond measure, and the more you see these ads, shows and now even books, the more the tendency you have in wanting to be happy as they are, without knowing that they also want to be as happy as they look like in those ads. The thing is, the young, kids, teens and young adults, are the ones who are the aim of the media, not old men and women, because they are the future, and if you control just one generation, you will control the rest. Just look around and see how many people are breaking up mentally, relationships don't last, love is fading, beauty is measured by the size of the chest and muscles, intelligence and originality are seen as things of the past. Now the new beauty is about looks, but everyone forgets that looks deceive. Everyone can look innocent, but how many of them really are? Why are they doing this? The reason is simple: profits. They advertise you what you don't want, convincing you that you need it, showing you the 'flaws' that you have and you did never notice before, and giving you the product that will guarantee the solution of the problems that you never noticed that once existed, and that did never exist. Once you are 'addicted' to it, there is no turning back. The system only loses when you don't fight against it, when you ignore it completely. Be yourself and love who you are, because actually there is nobody in this world that can replace you, not even with a ton of make-up on their face, because beauty is unique, and everyone is unique, even twins are. It all starts with you.

I won't read this text. You should space it. Not only members with glasses will be grateful.

Actually you should give it a try. I am talking about the modern era lifestyle and the influences of the media in personality. This is just a primary article, I will keep making more and more about the topic, so people can see how serious are the influences of modern society. I will be waiting on your feedback, M.-L, and also your critics. Thank you.

This looks better since it's been spaced. But your thoughts are spot on about being who you are by being yourself. Beauty is only skin deep and the eye of the beholder too.

Enjoyed reading this, you have some good thoughts here. I am sad not to see any of you in it though. No personal observations, no how it pertains to you. Why were you inspired to write this?

I was inspired by the willing to change the way the world is. I am a 'old soul' young adult, and it hurts me to see my generation with so much lack of originality and love for each other. Thanks for the tip. I will put myself more in the next one. My best regards, Júlio Carlos.

@Jessicalynnt hahaha, thank you. I am very passionate about writing. I am mostly a poet, I've already written about 10.000 pages of poetry or more, maybe I will start putting them weekly for you to see. I am a novelist also, and as you can see, a very critic thinking person. I am thinking in tomorrow take time to put another part of that topic. just to expand things up. I will personally send you a message.
