I am not the type of person who will be the first to sit for a portrait
I am not the kind who takes pictures in new clothes to show off, i am more of the kind who would rather hang back in a crowd while those things are going on
So when family members want a picture to have for a Christmas card and want me to be in the front i politely try to move to the back, or put a grandkid on my lap to hide in their hair
See i have always known i wasn't photogenic but prefer to just be there as me.
take a pic but don't expect me to pose for it.
I like to be the center of attention, but if that means i had to show my face then that is another thing.
Maybe I wasn't told i'm pretty enough or i felt i was but didn't feel the need to prove it.
I just wanted people to like me for me.
Was that too much to ask?
How about you?..What is your take on picture taking?
Maybe my title should have said say brownies!!

@LadyDuck I just can't see how these young ones love taking pics of themselves and then post them online..they look so funny with their duck mouths..hahah

Yeah, say brownies would be good. Pictures aren't taken much around here. My granddaughter likes to take a lot of herself and changes her Facebook pic all the time. She also is going to have another baby so there will be a lot of pics of him.

Well, I was a professional photographer back in the Philippines some 25 years ago. In my studio I could make one's picture looked good. But one day a young lady returned to my studio and asked me to take again another passport pictures to replace her passport photos for her application to work abroad. According to her her passport photos did not look like her . . The reason I retouched (photoshopped) her passport photos to make her looked younger and prettier!

Once I had my Passport photos taken with my hair permed and the Police in Bilbao said that it was not me. Well I never had that said before but I said for them to check properly and so he did but I never took my photo again with my hair done that way. I had a load of curls I can laugh now but he was pretty serious in what he said at that time. I was in the Airport by the way.

In a group is a better idea as they take it a bit further away and you can sort of hide away in there somewhere too.

I don´t care for having my photo taken either. I shy away from them too. I put on a silly grin sometimes and get away with that. I am not photogenic either.
I never like to say "cheese" either.

Oh no, I don´t like photos of me they never look good at least to me anyway. There are one or two photos of me that I like but I was not born photogenic my kids are though which is a good thing. See you are not alone.

I don't think it's a bad thing you don't like your photo take - it's better than someone who goes to the bathroom and takes 100 "selfies".

@Rosekitty haha - I literally have no idea! I agree it is nice to make the effort and look nice, especially if your going out for a meal or a few drinks or something but at some point, deep down, 20 years from now they are going to look back at themselves and say - "What was I actually thinking?!?!"

I dislike my photo taken with a passion. I work behind the camera as the photographer. Having my own taken puts me at great unease. The only time we get a portrait of us is if I set up the shot, and we have to take a load and even then I am usually not at all happy with the outcome. I just cannot smile naturally, it looks false and stupid.

I look terrible on pictures, my dark circles under my eyes really show up bad on most pictures, it doesn't stop me from taking a selfie here or there ...LOL, I have to make my self look the right way and make sure the angle is right

Pictures? No let me take my own please. I am always awkward, unsure of what to do and end up usually looking quite silly. Do not pose me for crying out loud! I will twich
