I found my retirement town

Now I just need to win the lottery and refocus. Always before its been: land and not the house. The house can be a shack. Must have land. To some three acres is a pin head. To me it is room that allows me to not have neighbors right up against my windows. Now reality is gnawing at me more and more. I need to focus on the house not the land. Not sure how I am going to pinch myself into such a tight shoe. Must do it on our next move.

It's an interesting change to make. Perhaps you can find a place on a nice lot so you can have a little of both. Making a list of must haves and cant stands can help there. Alternatively, sometimes it can be good to buy some property and hire a builder.

@sallypup You can - you just have to search - do you use realtor.com?

@sallypup moving and find the perfect house & land can be hard but hope you find 99% of what you're looking for. @rohvannyn has a great idea of making a list of "must haves' and things you absolutely can't live with and maybe you will be able to find a compromise somewhere in between. Good luck with everything

Good morning @rohvannyn I found historic houses that did not cost 5 arms and 5 legs!!! That also means that the lot is small. Boo hoo. Can't have both, I guess. You are right. Make a list AND stick to it. Ha ha.

@rahulvsmokiee I've been here about a month. Are you enjoying summer or the start of autumn?

We retired to the south - that was our goal and we did it at an early age so as to enjoy our ''golden years". Still not sure if this house is the last one....

@sallypup There are many reasons to live in the south - money/weather/people!

@abbygreenhill The south sounds beautiful. We are trying to get to South Carolina for a vacation. Now that Mom is here plus somebody took in a burro, well, we are trying.
