Car battery troubles

My vehicle was parked For a few months. Now it won't start because the battery is dead. The battery is only a year and a half old. The individuals who sell batteries will try and sell me a new one, even when the one I have only needs to charge up. I would really love to get some troubleshooting ideas before I go to them. Do you think the battery can be charged or do I need to purchase a new one?

If it's been sitting for months, get it charged. If you are still having trouble, then get a new one.

I don't know. You are in a warmer climate than me- I just had a battery issue, too. I live 10 miles from a town so I really need my car to work. Its battery was about as old as yours but a mechanic said my car was having starting problems cause of the battery. I had him replace the battery and have had no problems getting to town since. Good luck!
