Insecure Women and Servers

I read about a woman who left a note on a restaurant bill, leaving no tip telling the server to find her own husband (they were on their anniversary). If you find a server too friendly with your spouse, chances are she has not even noticed him. A good server will be friendly, especially in the US, where they rely on tips in order to live. I am always surprised when I meet someone that does not realize that servers do not even make minimum, they have to make up the rest in tips to get that minimum wage or if you are a good server, above minimum wage. If you cannot afford to tip, then you have no business eating out in a full-service restaurant. But for someone to write something like that on a bill, shows their insecurities with no hiding. If you get super jealous, like that, you have no business in a relationship! Do you tip? Do you get jealous that easily if a server or an airline attendant is friendly with your spouse?
An Ohio waitress took to Facebook to slam a customer who left her a $0 tip, along with a note telling her to f...

I tip for good service, not necessarily for 'friendly' service. There is a big difference in being nice and being overly friendly. I think that , especially here in the U.S., boundaries are not being respects on many levels. This is one of them. When a server has a table that has a couple setting at it I think the server should be nice but not overly friendly. I also think that a lot of women have enough common sense to know if there is flirting going on or not and if there is any question at all the server has gone too far. Of course this gal is going to defend herself.

The server mentioned that she just got married, the month before, after the couple said they were on their honeymoon. Plus, her husband was sitting in the booth across from them. She had told them she would answer to anything, so the husband customer addressed her as a'hole, the entire time they were there. There is nothing with being over friendly to a customer. I hope that you don't treat servers the way that woman did. That couple was in the wrong and I loved how the server told her in a note, that her husband took her on a cruise for their honeymoon, not some diner.

@Pattitude ...It does sounds like this was the couples fault. But, what I said does still stand.

@celticeagle Insecure women need to learn that not every smiling woman is after their husband. If you are jealous, those things need to be resolved before entering a relationship.

That is not right!! why will someone get angry at a person who is doing their job!! If they won't smile, even then people will complain!! And no, I will not get mad at a person!! Sometimes, we go to restaurant and the girl talks smiling with me, all my girlfriend does is smile and tease me about it but she never gets upset about it! Same goes with me, that if the guy who is serving us is smiling and responding to my girlfriend, it doesn't mean I will start brawling!! It is part of their job to be charming and happy!!

Tipping is not practiced here in Singapore because most of the restaurants automatically adds a 10% service charge. I am not easily get jealous.

I believe most of Europe is the same, I know they don't tip in Germany. I was also surprised they allowed dogs in the restaurant! The Germans do love their dogs!

Here in Tahiti there is no tipping. Everyone make the right wage for their job and the law here is no tipping. I guess this one is better in the long run because the people are forced to do a good job.

@norcal That seems wrong! I haven't worked in food service for a long time, but the experience has made me understand them better. And I often bus the table, lol, you will find dishes stacked neatly at the end of any table I am dining at. And I know at higher end restaurants, they have to share their tips with the bartender and sometimes the dishwasher and cooks. I never thought this was fair, because they made the minimum wage.

In some states they do not have to pay the servers anything. They depend completely on tips.

Crazy maybe but in thirty years, if they last that long, that same woman might be willing to 'give' her husband away.

No, why would i . I know that it's what is required of them by the management , just so they will still come back and dine again.

"If you cannot afford to tip, then you have no business eating out in a full-service restaurant. " I would counter that by saying if you can't pay your staff a decent living wage you aren't running a viable business.

here in india tip is not compulsory so lots of people not give because in bill 12% text and 10% service charge they take then why pay more and we give money for eating so its my opinion.
