Lately, I find some paid sites have been closed or stopped paying. First, I found shvoong.com. The site was closed for no reason at all, even though, hundreds of thousands of authors there. Most recently, Bubblews, also recently closed. Last, I heard the Yahoo Contributor's Network and Helium is also closed. What do you think, does make money online by writing is a risky job?

Usually, there are some clues before a site just closes. Bubblews wasn't paying for a long time anyway, so no loss there. I had never heard of shvoong.com. If your writing is dependent on search engines, then your pay will go up and down, and you can never depend on it. On the other hand, you aren't losing anything, well other than your time, talent and energy.

This is true. YCN was having issues with reviewing submission the last couple of months it was up plus there were a handful of people who were told well ahead of time that it was going to be shut down.

Yes, we should give more attention when the site start to show unfair situation. Yes, bubblews was not paying for a long time before it shutting down. But, shvoong does not show negative situation, it just reduce paying rate, but still paying its member. At the 2013, mylot also stop paying without show some negative situation. I think the best idea is does not depend on the site that is not ours.

@else34 Totally agree with you, though we love writing but we do not love waste time. We want what we write will come a worth of number of money. Yes, it is not easy get number of views on our article, it is the same with difficulties for inviting visitor to our website.

@srisahara For the same reason I gave up writing for those sites.Getting a satisfactory number of views on your article is also not easy.

In fact working for any earning websites is risky. But when you realize that it is not your full time job, you may even do it for fun. And you will not lose a lot except for a little time. Then you don't think it is risky.

Yes, we should put online job is not our first work if the site is not ours. Because we can't do anything if the site is closed. Yes, we should take it just for fun, except we have our own website that is managed professionally. It is different, I think.

Of course it is a big risk. Unless you have your own website then you at the site owners mercy. Wish it wasn't like that.

Yes, we should be careful with the site we join. If the site start to show some strange habit we should go from there to avoid more risk.

I'd say writing online is a risky job, but if you have a site that pays that has been around for a long time, you should just focus on one site, for me, that is currently HubPages, and now I'm focusing on that site for my writing. Fortunately, I have all my writing backed up on my computer so I can repost it.

I think it would be risky to count on it as anything other than bonus money

Yes, we should have an opinion like you, but I think it is difficult for people who their earning depends on a site.

I don't think you can make a dependable income by writing online. You have to put in a lot of time and will often make just pennies a day. Sometimes it can add to another source of income, though. If you think of it as a "job," however, you may be disappointed.

Yes, agree with you it is risky but when we does not take it we do not get extra income. Yes, we never know when the site we love to write will be gone. It is a good idea if we enjoy what we have and thankful to god..

@srisahara I think it is risky to depend on online writing as a support. I use it as a part time job and am thankful for the extra money.

First off, I don't think that writing online on sites that pay or on your own monetized blogs should be considered a job. I say that because most likely you will not be able to make enough money monthly from it to be able to support yourself financially. If you rely solely on this to make money you will not be able to pay all the bills and expenses and live the lifestyle you want to live. You should think of this as a hobby you love doing that can bring in some extra income. Whatever you earn will just be an added bonus to what you already make at a real job. And I say that from personal experience. If I relied solely on my online writing to pay the bills I'd be hungry and out on the street.

Most of the online tasks are risky as unless you get paid, you do not know whether you are going to get paid.
