Random Word Post – heirloom

I find a random word by flipping through a dictionary or using a random word generator and write a quick little post about it. # Heirloom is a rather odd word. An heir is someone who gets all of your stuff. A loom is something you weave clothing on. So shouldn’t an heirloom be something you weave your heir on and not some trinkets passed down through the family?

Good idea. Yet, I think after telling us what the word doesn't mean you should also mention the etymological root of the word to make the post complete.

I used to do that when I did these on another site, and most times it didn't seem to really add anything. But maybe I'll start doing that when it's warranted.
