My Crazy Christmas Cubicle

Historically it's been hard for me to get into the Christmas spirit. I used to have to put up a tree and go to stores because I had kids and there was no such thing as online shopping. Once they grew up the pressure was off.
One year, while I was on vacation, my co-workers put up some really tacky decorations, that they had purchased at the thrift store, in my cubicle. Somehow that just flipped a switch with me.
The next year, at the beginning of December, I decided to just go overboard with the tacky Christmas stuff. All the ladies in my department started doing the same thing. Each day at lunch we would walk to the thrift store and buy up all of their gaudy Christmas stuff.
Truly, it looked like the home of an insane Christmas elf in there. I guess we're lucky that our boss didn't seem to mind. In my mind, what I was doing was making fun of Christmas, and all of the commercial insanity associated with it.
After that, I ended up with several boxes full of this Christmas paraphernalia. So, each year when the season came around I would get the stuff out and put it up. My associates mostly lost interest, so I was the only one doing it now, in a slightly toned down version.
I found that when I got my decorations out, I began to feel more Christmasy. When the company I worked for fell on hard times, I was one of the few who still decorated my workspace for the holidays.
People who didn't know me, and were not in on the joke, probably thought I was some crazy Christmas fanatic, but decorating for the holidays did lift my spirits.
Unfortunately I do not have a photo of my Crazy Christmas Cubicle, but this photo is in the spirit of it.

Sometimes that is all it takes is one kind, and funny gesture to lift you up and feel in the mood.
I wish i had some tacky stuff to throw all around my house and make fun too.
Who cares what others felt how you are/were..you know you needed that and that is all that counts.
I for one am outside the box so i am on your side..hahaah

I get so much joy out of decorating. I especially love my Christmas tree.
