Do youi trust the newspapers ?

Every day newspapers and news channels choose what they find best. Every day there is news, but the news is selected. Don't you some times have the feeling that the news is selected by money. Disasters sell, like terror attacks sell. A kidnaping in the Congo doesn't sell unless it's a celebrity. Do you trust the news and the so called experts ?

I used to. But they pick and choose the news too. To me they took sides for instance during the Scottish vote for independence. and had thus influence in the votes. Even the BBC, or guardian should be read with a critical mind.

sometimes yes but sometimes no because if they have no new they also make news and may be it become viral so in somecase what happened they show terrorist attack but the photo and writing is old so some one beleiving that its present news and make it viral.

true, that's a classic, to use photo's wrongly. Using a war photoshot in Guatamala for a news item about Panama.

I do trust the news or any form of media as they only report what they want and it never seems like anything good. Half the time it si not even true or only half true.

I read the paper every day and I am interested in the local news. I do know the world wide news is chosen for space, I just think of it as the big news, as compared to the little news, there is just no space for it all on a piece of paper.

I trust my intuition. I had enough from politics and news, that's why I left my Tv in my last apartment. I listen to the news on the radio sometimes and read online. Just to know what is going on.

throwing de tv away is not a bad advise. I think the tv had it's best days anyway. Apperently the younger generation hardly looks tv anymore, they use youtube or the news online.

I don't trust most of the news channel, however I think very few people in the industry are genuine also.

It is not worth trusting the newspaper. most of the data is faked and you can find that such data does not help you in any way. In turn this makes you more of suspicious about data being shared.

What do you mean Peter sometimes, I feel like it all the time. Neither do I trust the news and the so called experts.

Not only do I have that feeling, I know it is always true. It's even been admitted by the mainstream media! Everything has a bias, too. I get most of my news from the aggregators. I won't trust the so-called experts until they get their facts and their science straight.

I think you're very right. They're out to sell themselves so tend to be sensationalist and many are manipulative as well.

The news is a business. They don't even try to be unbiased, and thorough. I think when I was a kid, during the Huntley/Brinkley days, they felt more responsible to keep the public informed.

I no more trust media. Media is now a tool of propaganda. Political parties buy media channels. Some media channels blackmail governments and wealthy people

It's hard nowadays to really trust one source of news. in my country, news channels and newspapers they provide news that is advantageous for them. it is hard to separate them from politic propaganda. but to distrust them fully is hard since it's the only way we, I mean I, can get the information. so what I do, to avoid the bias usually I look up the same news but from different sources like, friends who actually live in the place where the news object take place, or just look up different channels, newspapers, etc.

Of course its manipulated and they only post what ever sells most without causing them any trouble. Its all always about money at the end sucks so I don't watch it. People always say how could you not keep up with current affairs and I think how could you watch someone stand there and tell you half truths and think that you have all of the facts to make an informed decision. Altho I just say nothing

Sometimes they can tell you what they think but some say no cause of telling you what you want to hear.

well I was a writer of a column in a paper and I would hope that my writings were the truth with factual information - so yes I do believe the papers - they can only reveal what they see and what they are told, and what history and research produces

The newspapers I read are trustworthy. I don't buy the ones which live off scandals and sensations.
