Mother and Baby and Doing Fine

Our newest grandson arrived last Thursday, and it has been a whirlwind of activity since then! He is our 7th grandchild.
Another one of our daughters and her family also showed up, so all we have been doing the last few days has been spending time with three of our grandsons, fixing meals, holding the baby, taking pictures and generally having a good time.
For the next week, I will still be helping with our two-year old grandson so our daughter can focus more on her new baby.
After that, things will go back to normal for my husband and me ... although not, of course, for our daughter and her husband. Things will be hectic for them for the next few years!
I'm using a photo of a baby from Morguefile, because my daughters do not like us to show photos of their children on the internet.
Our newborn grandson seems to be healthy and content. He weighed 8 lbs. 2 oz and was 21 inches long.

Yes, I would be horrified to see one of my grandchildren on a billboard. I have heard of that happening to people before.

This is such a happy time isn't it? And to have it so near the holidays is a nice plus. Like I said in another discussion my grand daughter gave birth to my second great grandson last Thursday too. At 4:21p. He was over 8 pounds with extra 11.4 ounces. We have a lot to be thankful for don't we? Healthy babies. Nice.

@DeborahDiane 12 pounds for a baby girl is incredible, my brother was around 12 pounds when he was born, I was a tiny baby, around 6 pounds.

Yes, he is a nice, healthy size. Of course, our daughter (the baby's mother) weighed 12 pounds 6 ounces when she was born, so an 8 pound baby seems like nothing!

@LadyDuck - My 12 pound baby girl was almost a month overdue. She just didn't want to come out! Yes, she was incredibly large. My doctor teasingly told me to tell my friends that she was born walking and talking!

Yes, I think he is a nice, healthy size. He still has his days and nights mixed up, but I am sure things will start to smooth out, soon.

@DeborahDiane Indeed I am sure you do . Though my mum had 5 of us in home births I was glad I was in a hospital when my first delivery ended in a c section!
