Dethawing Ye Old Turkey

In the US, we are about to celebrate Thanksgiving. This is the kick off to the Christmas season. Sure a few excited people have already, started, but now its official. You most likely know that we cook a whole turkey for this occasion. Most of us don't hunt. Our turkey is a 15 pound frozen bird. That means it's time for most of us to dethaw the turkey, if you haven't already started. The instructions call for 4 days of thawing for my 15 pound bird. We do our celebration just after Thanksgiving, so that will work. Did you remember to give enough time to thaw your turkey?

Here in the UK we do not have Thanksgiving so here they cook Turkeys on Christmas Day We have Christmas Day and Boxing Day here which is actually a second Christmas Day I personally do not like Turkey so in my Case it is a Roast of some sort or Chicken roast that gets cooked

Some people in the US do a Turkey on Thanksgiving and Christmas. Then others interchange ham for one of those occasions. I have heard of boxing day, when is the date of that holiday?

I am thawing it now Bethie, started yesterday. Ours may be around 10 lbs not very big, still sufficient. We are blessed to have one.

My turkey was free from work, so I feel a little spoiled. I think there will be leftovers!

No Thanksgiving and turkey here... only problem with Turkey, but this is another matter. Enjoy your Thanksgiving.

Problems with Turkey the food or country? I used to live on a farm that had wild turkeys living on it. They slept in the tree behind my bedroom and made a lot of noise. I really wanted to chop that tree down!
