Why is there jealousy?

I wonder why people get jealous?
My personal guess is that because they are possessive and they don't want to share their loved ones with anyone.
But this brings up another question: is that real love or a fake kind of love?
In my opinion people are too possessive and too abusive. Maybe if they would chill out a little more then everyone would be happier.
What do you think about this?

In my opinion jealousy stems from ones own insecurity. I think we all have a little jealousy in us but too much is not a good thing.

A little jealousy shows that you love the person But when it becomes too much , then it's already obsessiveness and selfishness already which could result to a dangerous level when not curbed .

I think, it is okay people get jealous, but it should be consider why and when they have jealous? As long as it is in a normal situation and does not hurt someone who loved, it is necessary to get jealous.

Jealousy isn’t necessarily a bad thing. It’s human nature. It’s natural to feel jealous from time to time. But if jealousy already consumes you it is already too much and will create problems. Too much jealousy is an insecurity.

I know that people get jealous when we are doing good or better then them ,they make mind that how can they perform better then me and spread viral that he is cheater and doing this and that,instead of learning what he do that he is now better then me,he is jealous. Sometimes also think that if i will tell them they are go ahead of me. In face jealous is negative thinking.

as long as there are no bad effects of jealousy, I think this is a healthy emotion of 2 people in love. envy though may mean a hurt may be done to the other person, which is also one of the 7 deadly sins.
