Mystery shopping earnings are a nice surprise

Just spent a few minutes standing up at my computer ( got to sit down less for my health ) checking out the payments I have received from a very precise German company which has an office in town, that I have been doing jobs for since March. It came to £380 ( 540 euros, $570 US ) which is a tidy sum for me. Now I was lucky, I got three big assignments which involved credit checks, ( opening a bank account and a couple of mobile phone purchases )since most were e mail, twitter or facebook enquiries earning only a couple of quid a go . However it all adds up.! This company makes you pass a test before each assignment and it took me a while to get used to the system and to fill in everything quicklybut it has been fine for a while now. Their back up staff are really helpful too. I have since started with two other companies ,and have done far less with them but I guess I will have to check out what I did there too, I am having to do this now because our end of year accounts have to be finalised and any additional income from self employment declared in a few weeks , and I am getting trying to get ahead. I know that many posters here on myLot want to earn a bit of money from home or as they go about their business , so while I realise that not everyone lives in countries where such activity is available I thought I would share in case it could help. I will give more information for anyone who comments appropriately. I have loved being able to say to my so called other half, who likes to get sniffy about me buying things, that all my purchases have come from my own earnings. End of story and potential argument !

I believe you miscalculated the value of the Euro against the dollar, it is correct that 380 British Pounds make 540 €, but the change in dollar is 571 US$. The Euro is worth a little more than the dollar.

That's a good chunk of money. I earn extra by writing short articles - it's coming in handy for the holidays.

I was quite surprised to add it all up and reach such a high total and you are absolutely right about being able to earn independently

I think it's a great idea if we can find things that give us extra money.

Yes, I do not have a work pension , being self employed, so will carry on doing such things even when I give up full time work

@Auntylou I agree. Money you can use they way you want instead of on the unending bills.

Yes, that is a decent amount of money you made. I do mystery shops, and give me a little extra spending money.

Oh wow good for you! I find self-employment very rewarding for so many reasons and when you get a good sum like that, it makes it even better.

I used to love to do mystery shopping, but I don't have a car currently so have been unable to do them.

@Auntylou It would be great if I lived on a bus route, I am too rural, but I am moving soon. It is rough not having a car. It's the first time since I was 16 (I will be 57 on Saturday!) that I haven't had a car. I had health issues a few years ago (severe abdominal spasms) and it was dangerous to drive, so thinking I would be like this for the rest of my life, I let the car go. Now I am better, but no car!

My mystery shopping gives me about $400 per month. (Canadian Dollars) But some of that is useful reimbursements such as gas, groceries, oil changes. Some is meals reimbursed. Not exactly useful but kind of nice.

@KristiSCash I agree; that is what I do a lot of. But I'll go in and make inquiries at a bank or other shop for the fee.

I have done mystery shopping during a couple of different periods in my life. I find that it works best when you can find assignments for things you would normally do. It's nice to have your dry clearning piad for or to be reimbursed for the family's pizza night.

I was never a shopaholic (I've sure you're not too) but I always enjoyed having some money of my own - or that I had earned. My husband couldn't have cared less but it made me feel better. I spent all mine on my ponies.
