I Did It Again

Every now and then I make a mistake, for which I later pay dearly. Today I did it again. I didn't have any caffeine. I'm not a caffeine junkie, per se. Still, if I avoid it for more than 24 hours I get a nasty "caffeine withdrawal" headache. Those things are on a level just below a migraine. It was about 9 PM when I realized what was causing the headache, meaning I was in a catch-22 of sorts: if I had any caffeine to ease the headache it would probably keep me awake all night, but the headache might keep me up all night by itself! One thing's for certain: first thing in the morning, it's two cups of black, caffeinated tea!

That's strange since caffeine is a trigger for migraines.

Mine was different: it wasn't a migraine, it was a caffeine withdrawal headache. If I drink something with caffeine in it the headache goes away (as opposed to nothing short of chopping my head off gets rid of a migraine ). I understand what you're saying, and it's certainly a problem for doctors as well as individuals. There are things that trigger them in some people that don't in others. I worked with a woman who couldn't eat chocolate because it triggered migraines. Chocolate doesn't bother me.

@FourWalls My migraines went away once I stopped working, I think that says something about the man I worked for!

@AbbyGreenhill You're allergic to work, too? I understand! (Maybe you have an allergy to jerks, too, hmm? )

Can't say I've ever had one of them - but, without fail, I have 2 large homemade iced coffees every morning. I simply can't function if I don't get my morning coffee hit.

From time to time I make that mistake as well. It sounds counter productive, but when I do that I take a store brand "headache pill" which has caffeine, acetaminophen and aspirin in it as I go to bed. By the time the caffeine hits, I am already asleep and it softens or completely relieves the headache. I usually try to have two cups of coffee early in the morning and then

I have no migraines issues if I do not get caffeine, but I cannot function without my morning coffee.
