Never thought it would happen to me...I like to crochet!

I do a lot of crafts, chainmaille, felt making, needle felt and other things, but never got on with knitting (even though my Mum and Gran are/were fabulous knitters)...however, I have a new found pleasure in crochet! It is Saturday night, and I am looking forward to making another scarf - did one yesterday!

My two children got into crocheting last winter, and made a bunch of hats and scarves to give as Christmas gifts to everyone in the family. They spent a lot of time on them, and were proud of their work! Plus, everyone loved getting homemade gifts from them!

Homemade gifts are brilliant, especially from kids knowing the time spent on them :)

That's a good skill to learn when you are young.

My mother taught herself to crochet and became very good at it. I still have some of her shawls and doilies. I never learned to crochet, but I do embroidery. Not cross stitch. But what is called crewel embroidery. My latest project is embroidering flowers and other designs on jeans. I have done several for my great granddaughter. She loves them. My plan is to do several more pair this winter and possibly put them online for sale. I'll have to put a photo of my work on here for everyone to see.

What do you do with all the things you make? Do you sell them?

@gemmsky That's good! You must be happy about cold weather then. It's good for business.

I have never tried to crochet, even though my daughter learnt to at craft club. I think I just always had been of the opinion that as I couldn't knit (tried and was rubbish) that I'd also be no use with that. Well done on making your scarf!

@gemmsky Maybe I should try at some point. I am able to sew, but just never mastered knitting.
