Can't have chili without the beans

United States

So, I kind of planned to make Cincinnati chili sometime this week. Made a list, went shopping. Forgot the unsweetened chocolate. See what good a shopping list does ya? Fortunately mom has some unsweetened chocolate on hand. I'll just borrow that. All set. right? Nope. Forgot the kidney beans too. Unfortunately mom doesn't have those either. For a minute I thought it might just be okay. This particular chili uses spaghetti noodles. But then it would just be spaghetti with a spicy, chocolaty meat sauce. Nope. I can't do it.

I sure do love a good bowl of chili, but later on it sure doesn't love me! Thank goodness for Bean-O and Gas-X! lol

@moffittjc You have to chew your beans properly then you won't have gas. No inhaling

@JakeOmatic Mole is pronounced mo- laye- its a Spanish chocolate, spicy sauce. I love your comments. You really live in Antarctica? What's that like?

You have me curious on your chili. (I'm making some today.) I have included chunks of cooked yam in chili and have left out the meat. I've put in black beans besides the kidney beans but chocolate and spaghetti noodles? Is the chocolate kind of like making a mole sauce??

I've never had mole sauce before so not sure on that. Here is a link to the recipe if you want to have a look.

@cupkitties I think you are making mole sauce without knowing it.

@sallypup What would you use mole sauce for? Other than Cincinnati chili of course.

Do you have any white beans or black beans? I've made chili with pork-n-beans before, I rinsed them off before adding to the pot. It was really good.
