There are times you are talking to someone and you find words being said that is not right, do you correct them? If so, how do you do that? Is there a proper way to say it that the person will not be mad or think bad at you? What are your thoughts?

It depends on the relationship between you and he/her. If you are friends, then usually it is fine for you to correct them. However, if he/she is your boss, it is better to keep your mouth shut. Here the boss doesn't like that, because he/she may think you think he/she is stupid.

Well said right there. Yes, sure if it is your friend, and you know what his/her traits are, you should also think of ways how to tell them or correct them. I believe in the saying, a wise man changes his mind, a fool never will. If they think they are always right, well they are fools. They don't listen and understand people around them.

@youless your comment made me laugh! hahaha well, there are really lots of people who are like that. It's just saddening they don't want to listen and understand people around them. I guess there are reasons why they are like that. It maybe they are mad because they can't find love around them. :)

No, I will not correct them. i will just try to look into the real meaning or the intention of the speech. Many people do not talk directly. You have to think about the reason for that person to say something. It is like a guessing game, especially when you are in the office talking to your boss or colleagues.

I do believe that of course if you are in a workplace, you don't need to correct someone. I thin it just goes with talking to friends and laughing at your mistakes. You being corrected by a friend don't have to be mad or feel bad about it because it's their way of saying, you have to know the truth. You have to be thankful being corrected for they mean they have a concern for you. It just depends on the situation I think.

So who is it that you find comfort in correcting?

@annavi23 The best thing is,think before you say something to someone else.Choose polite and right words. But if you have already said something to another person and feel you should not have used such words, better apologise to them.

I do agree to that my friend, it really will help lighten the mood if we all are being polite and right words. But you can't expect people to do the same specially it is elder than you.

Sometimes it also depends on the tone of voice as well.
