Do You Always Try To Create Your Character To Look Just Like You?

If any of you ever play games, do you always try to make the character look exactly like you? I find it very hard to play if it looks nothing like me. Like for example, I LOVE playing a PlayStation 3 game called Saints Row 2. One of my friends always makes his character look the complete opposite of what he looks like. He never makes it look like him. I wonder why he does it. Then I'm wondering why I do what I do. I FEEL like I have to make it look like me because playing the PlayStation is my way to escape reality for a little while so I make it look like me as if I am really somewhere else. I could be completely wrong but I just can't play unless it looks like me. Does anyone have this issue / problem / quirk? Is it even a big deal or am I making it a big deal?

Dani, look at my avatar. Do you know what he is from? I know you've only seen him here on myLot, but look at the way he is made. Does he remind you of any games? Any at all? While I do NOT play games, my daughter, PrettyEvil, does! As a matter of fact, that is her job. She plays video games for a living.... Intrigued yet? Why don't I wait until I hear the squeal I am sure is coming and then I will come back and talk to you about this? See you in a little bit, hon. Edit to add: Not interested, huh? Okay!

@VivaLaDani13 You are correct, Dani. He is made by using one of their constructs and stretching a picture of me over him. My daughter made him for me. She let him live several times with his family on the Sims Games (She has all the Sims games, so I have no clue which one she made him for originally.) She actually has most of the games out on the market as well as the new ones that will come out very soon, too. I guess you could come visit for a while and I will just claim you as another daughter, if you want? LOL! You are close to my daughter's age, too. She is 27.

It reminds me of The Sims. I think about that game every time I see you on here but not totally 100% sure if that's what it is from. Very interested lol

I dont, I dont see characters as my extension. Most of my favorite games have female protagonist and I dont see my self as those women, i see them either as my girlfriend or a sister from another mother. Whn the protagonist is male, I dont see them as my avatar neither. I just play them to unfold their story. I dont really play games where I create chacters, I prefer default playable characters. I do play Sims but I dont see my self in the characters I create. I see them as pet humans.

@VivaLaDani13 I just put sims in a pool with no ladder. I know you know what happens to sims in times like that.

I don't play video games much these days, but when I did I always tried to make my character look as close to me as possible. Only problem was, I never could quite find a character that looked exactly like me. It never failed, no matter what game I was playing, there never was a character that closely resembled me. Nowadays, the video games definitely give you more choices of characters, and many of them even let you customize your characters, so it's probably easier to mirror yourself these days! But I agree with you, when you play video games you essentially want to escape the real world and insert yourself into a fantasy world, so it makes perfect sense for the character to look like you!

Perfect answer! If it's a game where you can't create your own character then I don't mind. I just pick whoever but yeah otherwise I have to do it. Thanks for answering.

I am one original piece. I make the character look original. Like human! And as you know I like change so I change that too. lol I like to play mission games or which have plots / back story. And the one who don't end before they start. lol

@Daljinder I did play a little bit of the very first Resident Evil but it annoyed me because of the angle. I used to get stuck in doorways. And I did play a bit of the 6th game? I think it was the 6th one. Where they were in Africa.

@VivaLaDani13 But you still haven't played Prince of Persia. It's a series. I have the executable files I saved from the disk. Resident Evil too you haven't played. It's a series too. I was late saving the files of this one and now the disk is corrupted. I so want to play it again. Halo, Need for Speed and Call of Duty, these I haven't played. Those are more of my bro kind of thing. They had played and I watched.

One of my avis is a panda because I love pandas and another looks like a doll because I love dolls. I prefer not to look like myself in the game because it's boring plus it's nice not having people bother me the way they would if I chose a more human look.

High five I'm also like this. I try my best for my avatar to have dark curly hair, brown skin, and dark eyes. Although I try to cheat into using bigger eyes than small ones .

Haha,i never let the role look a little like me ,because the game is just a place i can do what i cannot do in the real world.such as Violence motorcycle. To be honest,i cannot ride it at all.

Maybe that's why my friend does that too. I agree that this is why I love games. I can't exactly go into a street and start throwing trash cans at people....well I could but I shouldn't lol but my character sure as hell can!

Sweet. Do you play around with looks that look odd? Like a huge head but tiny body? lol That can be fun to do sometimes but I quickly change to back to normal before I actually play.
