I want to retire as a work-at-home mom

It's cliche, but I'd like to put an emphasis on "opportunity knocks once". A reputable company invited me to work as one of their copywriters and I badly want the job. Here's the issue: I have toddlers. They are ages 34 months and 20 months. We can hire a nanny for them. I know it does not make me a bad mom to pursue my personal interests. Any way, I'm not doing this for me alone. This is for their future.

If it's what you love then go for it . I think the cost of getting a nanny is still so minimal compared to what you will be earning .

@famidea That's the craze now with career women . At least we get to earn our own money more than the worth of hiring a nanny .

yes, it's not so expensive to get a nanny. I grew up with house helpers, too.that's because my mother has always been a career woman.

If you really want a steady stream of income, I would suggest you to start a business with minimum budget. Even if you pick a MLM, I would encourage it. Because an established business and MLM will work on its own, without your presence. A job is a job and an employer is a boss. Either you go to office or work from home, a boss always wants to be in control over you.

As a freelance writer, I am also an entrepreneur. I manage all my schedules, I am the "boss", and I am in control of everything. Sounds promising but that does not happen all the time. Every startup always comes with a risk. I could try what you're suggesting but maybe when I already have a backup money which I could only get from working.

@famidea working from home is good way to go, I mean with patience and self-discipline.

I think that you should take the job. It is not as if you will be away from them for extended periods of time and as you said you will be doing this for their future.

The company caters to foreign clients so they do have graveyard shifts. I can work at night while they're asleep. Then if the office has a sleeping area (like the company I worked for before), then I could sleep like 4 to 5 hours after duty before coming home. That way I could spend quality time with them at home. I don't think that's a bad idea at all.

Yes. If you have little kids then you surely understand how challenging it is to work. My kids' noise distracts me a lot and I find it hard to concentrate on writing.
