Random Word Post – pin money

I find a random word by flipping through a dictionary or using a random word generator and write a quick – often silly – little post about it. # I saw this in my dictionary and the entire definition was “Any trifling sum of money set aside for incidentals.” But I was curious why pin? So I did a search online. I discovered that it used to refer to the money a husband gave his wife for clothes and such. And apparently, it came from the wives buying pins for their hair. So I guess it falls into line with something like beer money.
