Two Weeks Until Christmas

Christmas is just two weeks from today. Are all of you ready? I am going to be mailing off a few gifts today and one more on Monday. Everything is organized and I finally feel prepared. There is going to be a full moon on Christmas Eve for the first time since 1977. This means it will be easier for Santa Claus to find his way as he travels around the world! Maybe Rudolph can take the night off! The members of our church in Laguna Beach light candles outside on Christmas Eve and we sing Christmas Carols under the stars, when the weather is nice (which it often is). It will be beautiful to have a full moon this year. What are you looking forward to ... or are you still in that hectic stage of getting everything ready?

I was stressed about baking cookies for the church cookie walk this weekend but now that is done so the rest is a piece of cake.

@DeborahDiane I survived and actually bought some delicious cookies. For this one I couldn't buy them though it was tempting.

Baking cookies for a big event would have stressed me out, too. I'm supposed to bring cupcakes to an event for a non-profit that I support. I confess that I'm going to buy them!

@DeborahDiane Thank you! I can't wait. We are driving there, it's only an hour away. And we are taking all the food so tomorrow will be a very busy day for us.

I've posted all my cards which is always a relief. I put letters in with a lot so that took a bit of time too.

I type up a very short note that is only about a dozen sentences long, just to let out-of-town friends know about major events ... births, graduations, etc. I make copies of it, and then I put it in with our photo Christmas card. I add my email address, so people can contact me if they want to know more. That makes things a lot easier when I post my cards.

@JudyEv - The past few years, I have even received email Christmas cards from people. They are always a pleasant surprise.

@DeborahDiane This is a very good idea. Our cards are cheaper to send if there is no letter inside so some I write what I can in the card itself and in others I include a letter. I hadn't thought of adding my email address though. That's a good idea.

Since we live in Southern California, I don't think there will be snow here on Christmas! Wherever you live, I hope you get the snow you are looking for.

I am looking forward to peace and quiet. I think my grandson will be going to his dad's. He is off that week and he so young and active it is hard to have him here for the entire week of Christmas break. Love him but.....he is a situation.

I am excited about Christmas but also sad because we couldn't provide for our children this year. Thank God our church is being "Santa" for us this year.

I am trying to remember if 1977 has been a nice year, but I remember nothing great.

@deborahdiane Thanks for the full moon tip. On 24th we'll be having a dinner get-together at our younger son's house. Just our family of ten and a couple of close friends. You bet we'll all watch the full moon then, thanks to you. Happy Holidays!
