What will be the fastest way to build up your list when you have a business online?

In order to have business online, building your own list is what all those internet marketers recommended at all times. However, build up a list is never an easy job. Get a good domain name, get a hosting, do SEO and submit your site to different major search engines in order to rank in the first page of some highly targeted keywords, set up an autoresponder and give out something for free are all the headache of building up an online business. Oh,Yes, list...oh, how can we forget this. although there are many ways to drive targeted traffic in order to build up a list, it is still a big headache when we need to do it. Sometimes, it is more headache to use all those popular social network such as Facebook, Twitter, Stumble upon, My Space and Linked in or websites of the same kinds.
