Update on my friend Rose

I have been back home in NC for a few days now. The visit went great. By the time I left, she had been off the vent for a few days. She had a scan the other day, but I don't know the results yet. But they have taken her off the pulmonary floor and moved her to the rehab floor to help her with her strength and endurance. The pic is of me and Rose back in May of this year. On my way home, I stopped in Chillicothe OH for breakfast. It was 5 am and I barely turned the car off when a woman knocked on my window claiming that she ran out of gas and could I take her to the post office. I replied, I'm sorry but I don't know you. She looked distressed but you just don't know people. Why would any one stop someone in out of state license plates if they needed help. I wanted to help, especially it being winter and it being the holiday season, but I just did not feel safe. By the time I got out of the car (which was just a couple of minutes later) she was gone. I did not see her anywhere!

You did very well not to help her, it looks like something was not right.

I wanted to, though. I have been in that situation before and have relied on the kindness of strangers. I just got a bad vibe from her.

I don't blame you for not helping. There is a common scam that is just like that. I have seen a guy spend all day in the grocery store parking lot with a jerry can in his hand, asking everyone for a few dollars so he can get gas.

I was afraid she might have had a partner nearby.

Sometimes it's really difficult to be in that situation. I think many of us really want to help, but we do not dare to take the risk as well. Nowadays there are just too many cheating cases which we can bring ourselves into very dangerous situation. Perhaps you made a wise decision not to help her.

It was strange that someone would approach an out of state car for help. If it were me in that situation, I would want a local to help me. I had a rental car and it was brand new, so they probably saw that and thought I had money.

I'm glad that Rose is still hanging on, and it sounds as if she may be improving.

I sure hope so. Her husband said that she did a complete turnaround since the point that I got there.

@JudyEv I spoke to her yesterday. She sounds wonderful and is doing great! She should be going home tomorrow. She's worried about how her house looks, she asked her husband if the house looked okay. She said, he hesitated and said everything is great. It's probably a mess! I hope he cleans it up before she goes home.

that woman may be trying to scam you, good you did not give in to her wish. I hope too that your friend will be okay. It is hard to have a friend who has that kind of illness, you watch her suffer.

@Pattitude . I have read back at how Rose was diagnosed with Lung cancer, and has been fighting it all the way, and I wish her continued strength, and I hope she will get better each day. It is good you have been able to see her and be there for her. I do not open my car window when someone I do not know knocks, it is sad, but it is a dangerous world, and a woman driving alone has to be extra careful.

I'm glad you said no... sometimes its the best answer. Because you were out of state it seems suspicious someone would ask you to do that because you aren't familiar with the area. I will add you friend Rose to my list for prayers and healing.

You were smart not to trust her. I hope your friend continues to improve.
