Dear Senor Santa Claus (and other Christmas favorites)

Warning : This discussion has words like Christmas, Cheer, Joy and Music. If these words offend you then please exit stage left. Thank You. I grew up on songs like Dear Senor Santa Claus (Jim Reeves) and Percy The Puny Poinsetta as well as Grandma Got Ran Over By a Reindeer by Elmo and Patsy. These were staples in the kitchen where my grandmother would be diligently preparing our feast. I know not a lot of people know of these songs. A lot of people know about "Grandma Got Ran Over by A Reindeer" because of the cartoon that was made several years ago. I've been singing that song since I was atleast five years old. In my preteen and up years I learned about songs like "Police Stop My Car", the funnier / mildly inappropriate Christmas jingles. These are still amusing for me to listen to occasionally, but I don't listen to them very often anymore. I know several people here have mentioned that the "same ol - same ol" songs are getting to be a bit too much. I figured I'd introduce everyone to some Christmas songs that you may not know of. Have you heard these songs before?

@just4him Yes I do only have one link but I did talk about several songs. I wasn't sure whether you were talking about the one I had posted a link for, or the others I said I have enjoyed.

@zebra2222 @Marcyaz surprisingly enough I still come across people that don't know of the song. I guess they've been living under a rock.

@Dragonairy1 I do not think I have heard of that one, I'll I have to look it up. As for the cartoon, I think it first aired about four years ago or so? It's fairly new but something they've played every year since.

Such an awesome little song, there's been toys or stuffed animals made with the jingle.

speaking of Santa songs I don't think I'll ever get tired of "Santa Baby" no matter how many times it's redone.

I am almost certain we had some sort of mixed tape with both of these songs in, as well as percy the puney poinsettia. Have you seen the grandma cartoon? They made it kid friendly.

I remember many christmas songs. And the grandma one is real funny. I like some of the old standbys, but I also like to hear something new.

The old standbys lend themselves to good memories, atleast in my opinion. I agree though, if not new songs then newly recorded / remastered would be good.

@ScribbledAdNauseum Right. We always need to change things up. I remember back in the 80's when there was a bunch of new songs coming out for christmas. Then it seemed to sort of dry up again.

@ScribbledAdNauseum A lot of the old tried and true songs remind me of when I was young.
