Hand Made Santa and Mrs Santa out of Clothes Pegs or Clothes Pins

Canada
December 18, 2015 6:32am CST
In the states we call then clothes pins, in Canada most call them clothes pegs probably from the British background of Canada. Did you know they were first made and used in the 1700's? The Mr and Mrs Santa on the left were made by a neighbor in McPherson Kansas in the 1970's. She was very creative and I bought many of my Christmas treasures from her. She drilled holes for arms made out of pipe cleaners. The others I've found at craft shows or given to me as a decoration on gifts. I think they are cute and certainly not hard to make. To make them you need: close pegs, red paint or markers (and black if you want to put boots on them), felt (red and white) for the outfits, a fine black marker for the faces (if you want faces) and lambs wool or white synthetic batting or any white fluff for the hair, beards and glue.(red pipe cleaners optional) The two in the middle have hangers for the tree so you can drill a hole for the wire or use wire around the neck before you add the wool fluff and red felt. Those little wreaths and be made at home easily or you can buy a bag of them from the dollar store or a craft store. The Santa's without a hanger, are held by putting it on a branch of your Christmas tree. Have you seen these before? Have you ever tried to make them. I think they are really cute. Merry Christmas...

@Namelesss I was searching ideas and I found so many DIY using the clothing pegs, even for the New Year. I start with the idea to have just a look and then I spend hours on YouTube.

Probably not @PainsOnSlate I don't have that kind of creative desire, I'm more of a shutterbug. I do love to play around with my images in Excel to see what I can do with them. It's a different kind of creative from what you enjoy doing.

I think that our son has made some of these when he was in grade school, and I'm sure that I've got a few of them kicking around here somewhere-I never threw anything out that he made for us!

@PainsOnSlate Some of his "treasures" that he's made we've started to give back to him for his own home and tree, and he likes that.

I love those. I was trying to organize the tote we keep decorations and Christmas stuff in today and down at the bottom I found two oldies similar to the two on the left. Yeah, it gave me a moment of reflection.
