My Sister the Mynah Bird

Everybody knows, I think, that the Mynah Bird is a repetitive-talking bird. My sister has something in common with that bird. Normally we will talk on Sunday's for about 4 hours; catching up on the weekly events. Since yesterday was her birthday, I called her at noon and we ended the call at 4pm. She calls at 6pm to let me know there's a John Lennon concert on at 7 and I explained that I would be watching the Jets play the Cowboys. She got off the phone at 7. She calls again at half-time in the game (she kept swapping channels), to talk about how the Cowboys were shockingly in the lead. She got off the phone at the end of half-time. She calls again at the end of the game at 10:30 to raise heck about how the Cowboys lost and didn't get off the phone until 3am. Yeah, you read that right; 3 am. That adds up to 10 hours of being on the phone with my sister yesterday. God help me, she's coming down for Christmas and spending 4 days with me.

I really feel for you when she gets there to visit you! I experience just the opposite with my brother. I can't get two words out of him on the phone, if I'm ever able to get him to answer at all! He's just a quiet guy by nature.

I'm willing to swap relatives with you @moffittjc . LOL. Another thing that drives me crazy is that she can stay on the same topic for hours and even if I try to change the topic, within 10 minutes, we're back on the previous one.

@nanette64 My mom is like that! She'll talk for hours about something, and never actually get to the point! I'll tell her to get to the point, and then I'll say "You could have just said that in 30 seconds instead of dragging on for 3 hours!" Then I'll try to move on to something different, and then she goes right back into the previous conversation. Drives me crazy!

You won't have time to get on here then will you? LOL My mother used to call me and she would tell me whatever was going on. Then she would start all over again telling me the same exact thing again. I would put the phone down after the first telling and go check on my daughter or what ever else I needed to do. I would always make it back to the phone just in time for her to ask me something. I don't think she ever caught on.

@nanette64 ...There may come a time when you won't have the opportunity to visit with her anymore. Make the most of it now while you have her with you.

LOL, that's a good one @celticeagle . The only time I won't be on Mylot is when she actually comes down here at the end of this week Friday thru Sunday. Heaven help me if I turned the computer on while she was here.

@celticeagle Very true. I'm worried about her any way. She's way overweight and has a lot of health problems.

That's more time than I could handle on the phone. But I'm worried about the John Lennon part. Didn't he die in 1980 or 1981?

Wow, a 4 hour phone call, and 10? None of my sisters talk to me that long, but I hate long phone calls after several minutes I am ready to hang up! I used to have an office job, and I did customer support for 1800Flowers and AT&T Wireless, so I pretty much hate talking on the phone!

@nanette64 My ex-boyfriend who I wrote about in my 2 newest pages could talk forever. He was starved for company.

Yeah, I can't stand long calls either @Pattitude . I can probably cover 10 topics in 15 minutes. lol. I used to be a CSR for Merck Pharmaceuticals, so I can sure relate. At the end of each day I wanted to hang myself.

Omg my ear would have been falling off by that time. My sister calls and my hubby thinks 1 hour is a long time. He is not a phone talker.

My 4-hour phone calls with her every Sunday is plenty @fishtiger58 , so you can imagine how the 4-day visit went.

I'm having a job to envisage that - if I'm on the phone for 5 minutes it's unusual! I hope the calls were free.

Yeah, thank heavens they were free @jaboUK . The only person I ever wanted to talk a long time with was my Mamma. And now that she's gone, I miss those calls.

Do you have to pick up the phone every time she rings?

Sorry to get back with you so late @MALUSE . I probably shouldn't pick up the phone every time, but she'd just keep calling.
