why are the markets still selling cigarettes?

Good night.My rant is why are the market still selling cigarets.?
I know they make a good profit but it is not helping young people and adults to give up smoking.They should ban this.We have a few places still selling them.
Did mentioned that to them.The answer:still thinking about this.Years later and they are still thinking.Good night.I need some sleep

i think the reason for anything to exist is its demand
if people want a thing it will be provided through legal or illegal way
if they ban this , people will look for some other and most probably illegal way to get them
and this will promote smuggling sort of things
it doesn't mean i am smoker or i support smoking
i am a Dr. and hate smoking very much
but i think it is a tough decision to make as many people will be thrown out of their jobs

So they would go on the black market, cost twice as much, send more people to jail, etc. Doesn't help a thing.
