Poems that Make No Sense

Have you ever read a poem that makes no sense to you? I have and frankly I find them to be often overly verbose and confusing. I prefer to keep it simple. My poems frequently are witty. They are easy to grasp. Typically they do not have deep meaning that is hard to discern. Here is one example. Mary Lou, Your eyes are blue. Your hair is green Like a Lima Bean. Mary Lou, Your dress is yellow. You are so mellow. Your shoes are black. Oh please, come back. I miss your smile. I miss your laugh. I wish you'd join me On my raft.

very nice poem. By the way who is Mary Lou? Your imagination or a real woman?

I use Mary Lou in many poems. She is part of my imagination. Still, I've met a Mary Lou in my life.

I hear you. Often I write word picture poems. I do confess that this last one is an image of a fly fisherman but inside of it is a deeper meaning. The reader can notice or not. Up to the reader.

I have often read poems that I don't understand. I would rather read poems that make sense.
