This is most famous topic in my country because day by day rape is increased instead of decrease and its very difficult to stop it because law is very poor and some do with money so rapist cant get proper punishment so they do same thing again and we have to stop it. in different countries punishment is very hard so rapist or other not do same thing.so if we hanging or shoot in public then other are fear to do same thing but in my country law is not good for girl. please read in picture then you know how shame we all us on our own country.

Unfortunately, we tend to take democracy and freedom as free for all. We forget our responsibility to make them work; otherwise they are a road to anarchy. Rule of law is a must everywhere - siva

@birjudanak The issue is more of changing/adapting our laws as per needs of the times. Einstein's words are relevant about insanity: "doing the same thing over and over again and expecting different results". We have to just do it and the young should use their energy rather than depend on those who just won't - why should they, especially in India, when they are over ninety years old and still in power! siva

@sugartoes The issue in India is lack of rule of law, those who have no conscience take advantage. The majority expresses disappointment but feel helpless as the system looks archaic with too much of backlogs of cases that take years to settle. And sadly some with clout look to be above law too! siva

Yes, it seems there in India the punishment for rape isn't a heavy one that's why rapists proliferate . Here, if you are proven to have raped a person , you will be in prison for the rest of your life .

I've heard about this too, my friend. I am sure, any Mother in your country will fear allowing her daughter to leave the house alone & especially at night.

Oh my! I think you would find the US is lax in it too. I think the countries you have there have the right idea about what to do to a rapist.

To tackle the problem requires a change in attitude at every level, government, police and society in general. It is particularly harrowing to see the problems India has been going through in this regard.

yes you are right if these three change and help people then everything is possible but in these days even they want to change but some are corrupted at top level so they not like this and cheated by money.

Democratic countries offer much freedom to its citizens. But in laws there are its own limitations. But Delhi rape case make a huge public anger against the culprits. The minor one who also abuse the girl gain the advantage of law. But this incident makes to rethink the judiciary system and a bill is passed to change the minors crime age.

it changed but not good because they reduce age as major from 18 to 16 but they have to pass bill for some serious punishment...

That is so sad. I cannot imagine there are countries where people do not believe that rape is one of the worst things, other than murder. I also have heard that it is very hard to cure men of the desire to do it. They should go to jail for a very, very long time!
