Random Word Post – mandamus

I find a random word by flipping through a dictionary or using a random word generator and write a quick – often silly – little post about it. # “Law A writ issued by a higher court to a subordinate court, city, business, etc., commanding it to do something.” From the Latin, “we command.” So it’s a thing where a court orders someone to do something. I wonder if there might be a simpler way of expressing it when a court orders something.
