I always read the ingredients in my kitten's cat food, but sometimes the best brands are hard to find, or quite expensive. I also wish we knew more about what some ingredients really are!! It can be hard to know what every chemical means. Some examples: Carrageenan Guar gum Potassium chloride Methionine Etc Etc...

it's a good thing we have the Internet to look up all those words. these days you could just about find anything you looking for online so you don't have access to the library or any books you can just look it up on your computer

LOL true. But it would be nice to look at general opinions on the most contentious ingredients.

What you need is Blue Buffalo for cats. It's all natural.

Technically "all natural" doesnt mean much of anything. I believe that Blue Buffalo uses grains, carrageenan, and some other things that aren't great for your kitty.

When looking after some stray cats last year I did find out that manufacturers need only put in 4% meat or fish!

That is just horrible, isn't it? I mean, who is overseeing these companies, making these laws?

@buttheadface932 As long as they are not harming animals I guess they are pretty well free to do as they please

@Auntylou Yes yes but what we NEED is a "FDA for pets", some organization that will oversee what they are doing and do research on them.
