Squirreliness

Honesly it felt as if I was in a cartoon. My niece took my sister to the foot doctor. I followed in the truck, and parked in the next lot over because it felt too full at his office. As I approached the office I saw these little, fuzzy. . . squirrels ! come tearing around a corner, one right after the other. Four of them. Up on the sidewalk just outside the window of the waiting room. They chased one another under a car on the far side of the property. Then they all chased another direction. The leaders reversed and ran at the followers, who also reversed, and came running. Right back at me. If they would have been cartoon characters you would have seen them putting on their brakes in mid air and spreading their arms, their mouth wide open screaming Aaahhhh!!. It was not quite like that, but in my mind it could have been. I saw more squirrels around town. The squirrels this year look healthy and fat. Their fur seems thick and it is a dark rich brown. They look quite cuddly in fact. Nuts to you!! It is a lot of fun to see the wildlife having a blast.

Perhaps, I could search. Somehow these made me think of rowdy siblings.

We have lots of fat happy squirrels around here as well. Despite the efforts ir old tomcat has out into reducing the population.

I had one cat that could catch them, and would bring them for me to see.

@GardenGerty Smoky has been known to catch squirrels and bring them to eat in front of us. If we approach him he growls rather menacingly. I ended up taking a series of photos once to prove to my husband that the cat ate the entire squirrel except the tail--he didn't believe me until he saw the proof.

I would have loved to have seen them. We had some young willy wagtails learning to fly on our back verandah once and they were wobbling all over the place, sometimes straight at us with horrified looks on their faces. (if a bird can have a horrified look Maybe it was just the body language).

It could be the terror in the eyes. Watching nature is fun. At my own house I get scolded by the squirrels when I go out to our large shed/garage.

@GardenGerty Some of our little birds get very shirty with us if we encroach on their territory. Some are so feisty even though they are tiny.

Ah for some they would make an excellent source of protein in stew . . .

I see three squirrels in the tree outside my window. About 8a. each morning they are climbing up the tree, scampering after one another.

They are probably really enjoying all the cooler weather. I get it was quite comical to watch.
