Value of Life

If you had one wish, what would it be? A group of people was divided into two, and this was the question for them. The first group of people gave the most common answer, to travel in different places, to have a successful career, to have their own business, etc. It was the second group's turn to answer the same question. Their answer were very different, one wants to be able to feel the air touch her skin, or go out and walk in an open field surrounded with flowers. Why are their answers different? The second group were people who are fighting cancer and people who have family who are fighting cancer. This made me think, how we may not appreciate life until we feel that we may lose it. Most of us sometimes forget the real value of life that we take things that we have for granted. Some even want to end their life for senseless reason, while other people (cancer victims and their family) are fighting for their lives. Even they know that they are only left with a month or a year to live, they don't want to lose their hope that they may still be able to extend life even just for a minute or so. Their answers makes me realize that life is not only about fame, money or fortune. There is more to it that we should be thankful everyday and every minute that we have. It is true that we should appreciate the small things in life for they become important when we lose them. How do you live your life?

Beautifully written. I live my life by spending as much time as I can with my loved ones because these people are the gems of my life. I am highly grateful to be a part of their lives and contended of what I have and what I am pursuing,
