*Beep Beep Beep*

That is the noise I hear while mylotting. I am in the kitchen at the table writing away. A family member's alarm clock is only a few feet away from me in the next room. It *beeps beeps beeps* incessantly and yet the family member it's meant for is snoring away. He is a very heavy sleeper, hardly anything wakes him up. On occassion a good yell will wake him but nine times out of ten it takes water to do any bit of good. He takes medicine that causes him to sleep heavily and often. I, on the other hand, ahave to have a fan in the middle of winter to block the noise from family members. Are you a heavy sleeper? do you have family who can sleep through anything?

It must be difficult for you living with that noise. What do you mean 'water'? Do you chuck some at him to wake him up?

I stay clear away for the most part. I take a paper towel and ring the water out over his head.

WHen I first moved back here it was terribly hard to sleep. The noise was deafening.

My boyfriend just loves to snore when he is sleeping. Sometimes an occasion punch on his arm or kick and he does not even notice! I will sometimes watch YouTube or Videos while is sleeping on full blast and he is fine. I would sometimes record him and back play so he can see also (since he does not believe I do all those things while he is sleeping). Me on the other hand, I can sleep well but alarm clocks - I will always hear it but I tend to snooze.

@ScribbledAdNauseum Hopefully the next will be a charmer! A semi-light sleeper? Or do you have a preference? I would not mind a heavy sleeper but no snoring please! Lol. I do tell my boyfriend everything he does, but he doesn't believe me so now I just record everything.

You made me think of something I saw recently. Apparently this woman started to text her husband all of the crazy things he would say in his sleep. I am single now but past relationships? They were pretty heavy sleepers. Lucky them!

there are people here who don't even notice the cellphones and telephones ringing next to them because they're focused on the tv or laptop. can you play other kind of white noise instead of the fan while sleeping?

Perhaps instrumental music. Anything with voices or singing would have my mind active.

@hereandthere Oh I have a couple of cd's of calming sounds. The fan serves the purpose of keeping me cool though, so it would still need to be on.

Same here. If someone is in the next room and moves something, chances are I'll wake up.

I guess it's just one thing you don't grow out of. It' s a good trait to have though.

My daughter sets an alarm for 5:30a. to wake up her son and get him off to school. She is on medication that really knocks her out so it takes about ten minutes for the alarm to wake her up. It is nerve wracking but has to be done.

This family member has tried the alarm in different places of the room, he's tried two different alarms. He can sleep through both for hours. He doesn't even hear it.

I wish I was a heavy sleeper. I'm somewhere in between heavy and light.

I don't know, I think heavy sleepers would have more stiffness in joints and muscles. They are less likely to move about in their sleep, atleast that's what I think.

The medicine is something he has to have. It can't be changed, perhaps reduced, but he always has to have it.

I used to be a light sleeper. Anything could wake me up. Now that I have a new mattress, I'm a heavy sleeper. But other people snoring does bother me. My mother, my uncle, and my fiance all snore.

Luckily I've never had to deal with a snoring person in past relationships. The mattress doesn't really matter for me. I will sleep lightly even if it's a double pillow top.
