I was sent to a jobs fair this afternoon, and this one took place at the welfare offices itself. I had to sign in to prove that I was in attendance and I was given a checklist of about twenty companies who were there which I was to get signed by each in turn to confirm that I had spoken with them. This was far more regimented than any other jobs fair I have been to. It felt like conscription. More than three quarters of the listed employers hadn’t turned up and several present were not even on the list. Most were soon exasperated at having to autograph the score-sheets of everyone who spoke with them, including those offering vacancies outside the age ranges of many participants. I got onto a warehousing training course which starts on Monday. This could actually be useful. The rest of the event was a waste of time for me. I called in the library for a few hours and took some pub sign photos, as well as testing out my new Tablet computer. I went to a new bar called the Piccadilly Tap to complete on of two real ale surveys I have at present. It was very good. From there I went to the first science fiction group meeting of the year with friends in another bar for the remainder of the evening which was also very enjoyable. Arthur Chappell

well warehouse work CAN be decent, depends on how physical it is, but at least you don't have to sell stuff!

the training course won't be paid - it's just to keep welfare happy but it could lead to work later

@arthurchappell sad that it's not paid, but free training is nice!

You had a pretty busy day Arthur. The jobs fair procedure sounds pretty annoying, but at least you did everything they asked.

That was a busier day for you than some you've had lately. I hope something comes of the warehousing.

Looks like you found an interesting and tasty way to end a semi boring day. Good job!
