She Blew Her Money on the Lottery

Has anyone heard about the woman who blew all her money playing the lottery and then created a "Go Fund Me" page on FaceBook? Hubby was telling me about it the other day. Apparently, she used all her money trying to win the lottery and was asking people to send her money through "Go Fund Me"! It said that she raised $800. her first day! This sickens me! In the first place, how stupid was she to blow her all her money trying to win the lottery! Where are her priorities? I hope she doesn't have children to feed! In the second place, why would anyone give money to someone who wasted what she had, gambling! To me, this is saying that what she had done was acceptable! What is your opinion on this?

Wow that's insane! Go fund me is there for people who desperately need help-not for someone who isn't responsible and is now begging.

@sugartoes You never really know if things like this are true or not.

I agree, @LovingMyBabies! It really infuriated me that people would give her money after such a stupid thing she did!

Was she on "Go Fund Me" to be able to play the lottery? If so then wow, why would people give her money to spend on the lottery, don't make sense to me. Myself I will only play the lottery if I really think about and maybe when there is a big lottery other wise I'm not interested in it.

From the sound of it, @kevin1877uk, she needed the money to live on as she blew all her money! Hubby and I only play the lottery when there is big money involved, but then we only spend about $20. a piece doing so.

That's sad she blew her money on trying to win. @sgbrown I don't spend that much lol, I'll buy maybe one or two tickets and that, my limit.

I cannot understand how people can send money to this woman. It's not even sure she spend all her money gambling. This is a nice way to make money doing nothing.

I can't imagine what these people were thinking! She probably went gambling with it!

I am totally against Go Fund Me in the fist place - I had it when people who don't really need money beg strangers for it. As far as this woman- why are people donating to her??

I have no idea what these people who donated to her were thinking! GoFundMe is supposed to be a place where people can easily donate to friends and family who really need help. It worked out well for our daughter last year when she had a terrible car accident. Her FB friends could easily donate $10 or $20 to her account. It added up and really helped her when she needed it!

I think that 'GoFundMe' is regularly abused - I can understand it if parents are trying to raise money for a sick child, but this sort of 'gimme gimme' should not be allowed. I remember writing a post on Bubblews decrying two bubblers who asked us for money - one for a holiday, the other to buy books. Sheesh - get a job! As for the case you are talking about - those people who sent her money want their heads looking at.

@sgbrown That's a different thing entirely Sheila - medical expenses are probably what GoFundMe was founded for, and that is what it should be used for.

@jaboUK I agree! Some people have to abuse "good" things and turn them into something else entirely! She should be banned from ever having another account!

I don't see many GoFundMe accounts. I know you remember when our daughter had the terrible car accident. One of my daughter-in-laws set up a GoFundMe account for her then. I didn't much like the idea, but her friends were all able to easily donate $10 or $20 to her account and it really added up and helped her out.

Why would anyone give her money? It will only encourage her gambling. What is that funding site? I have never heard of it.

I don't know why anyone would send her money after she admitted that she blew all her money gambling on the lottery! GoFundMe is an account a person can set up on FaceBook where their friends and family can easily donate money to their cause. However, some people abuse it, as in this case.

@Scindhia I would certainly think so! I wouldn't want everyone to know I was that stupid!

@sgbrown Just out of curiosity - Wouldn't it be embarrassing for such people (like this gambler) to go on a public site and ask for money after everyone knows her background? Strange!

I heard about this, how do we know she blew all her money and didn't set this up to see what she could get. I don't care for Go Fund me, I have people on my fb page putting up go fund me all the time, then next thing you know they are going on vacation. Seriously before I could help total stranger, I have tons in the family with their hand out at all times, looking for help. so if helping anyone it would be family.

My daughter had a "GoFundMe" page last December after a terrible car accident. It really helped her as she couldn't work for months. But I do know what you mean. The people that donated were friends and family that knew what had happened to her.

I would never give a gambler money, ever! She will just throw that away too. She has a big problem and it's not being broke.

my pop is fond of playing lotteries but when he comes into a point of asking some money to fund him for his tickets, i refuse to do so.. there are times that I would give some extra but if its not a necessity, i would never give anyone something to buy for lottery tickets

This is such stupid behaviour. I read the chances of winning the lottery and they were so way out there I wouldn't have bought a ticket at all. Well, maybe just one! But lend her money? The lenders need their heads read too!

Hubby and I spent $25 a piece, out of our "blow" money. I agree, the people that gave her money should have their heads checked!

Those folks who donated to her (oh so) noble cause endeavor to attain nirvana. They enjoy tea parties with shimmering stars in the sky and rainbow skittles spread in the milky way. That is how down to earth all the characters involved in this are.
