I wonder what would happen

I read, watch, and write science fiction. And sometimes I play “What if?” to pass the time, and sometimes to come up with story ideas. This idea has too much fantasy for me to get a story out of, but it’s something fun to ponder. A common element in science fiction from Dune to Star Trek are shields. These are energy barriers that stop (most of the time) physical objects or energy from passing through them. Usually, these shields protect ships, but sometimes they’re small enough for one person. So I was thinking about these shields the other day, and I wondered what would happen if someone developed a body shield that was impenetrable to any weapon: bullet, knife, poison gas, etc. But, it only worked as long as the wearer didn’t have any weapons on them. Millions of people would buy and wear these, but what about the self-proclaimed “Good guys with guns?” What would they do?

Even if you had such a shield, it would only protect the wearer. Anybody caught without one would still get shot. I'd rather try to take out the shooter than cower behind an energy shield.

Yeah, you're right. It's too much fantasy if you based your imagination with Star Trek. But you can come up with your own story. Who knows, you might have better idea?
