Rice porridge with Kimchi and fried anchovy

I long for the simple meal of rice porridge with Kimchi and fried anchovy. These few days of rich food have made me long for the simple and nice food. I guess I am not born to feast on chicken, duck, fish, shrimps, pork, and abalone for a meal. The worst is to have rich food for a few meals. I rather have a simple meal that is less oily and fatty. Fried anchovy does not really qualify as a healthy food, since it is commonly deep fried. However, Kimchi goes well with fried anchovy. The problem is in getting fried anchovy, since I do not like to fry anything at home. It will take forever to clean the kitchen. The supermarket sells Kimchi but I am not sure about fried anchovy, or known as Iban Bilis over here.

Fried anchovy is always served with kimchi as part of Korean meal set. They just give you a few of these, not even enough to fill up the little plate for chili sauce.

@scheng1 That's how they keep you coming back is give you so little that you can't say you really had them so you got to go get more.

I love rice porridge, called o-kayu in Japanese. I had some for breakfast this morning with raisins and walnuts, not the way Japanese people would consider correct, but it tasted good and was nice and warm.

Ya, it sure seems strange to have rice porridge with raisins. We like it plain or salty, not sweet. I think the seasoned beancurd will go very well with rice porridge. An egg and some spring onion will add nutrients to the porridge too.

I would prefer to eat Kimchi without any condiments. I think it is not common in my country. But it was introduced when the Koreans started to study English here.

Just Kimchi? Not enough with porridge or rice? It will be very salty. I think Kimchi is great when you have rice porridge or rice.

I can eat anything and not feel ill. However, I try to stay away from fried foods as much as possible, because it is so unhealthy.

We do not eat too many fried anchovy with kimchi and rice porridge. They usually put the fried anchovy in the little saucer that holds chili sauce. It does not do much harm to health, though it can mess up the kitchen.

The kimchi is healthy, I hear. Hubby likes anchovies, but not rice. I am like you, I do not like to fry and mess things up.
