Fox Doomed the return of The X-Files

Fox tried to grab viewers for the return of The X-Files by having it follow a playoff football game on Sunday night. But then in addition to the game being a blowout and losing viewers early, they ran the post game show deep into the time slot for The X-Files. I didn't watch the game at all and turned to Fox to watch the return of The X-File since I had been a big fan of the original series. But when I saw what was happening and that it was going to mesh the whole night of watching shows, I turned to another station and watched a rerun of Bones. Since I, therefore, did not see the first part of the 2 part beginning of the return, it is now easy for me to skip it all together and continue to watch what I usually watch in the time slot given the return on Monday night. Fox just plain blew it.

The ratings have been good enough to warrant a renewal. It hasn't been renewed yet, but it's 75% sure it will be. And Gillian Anderson and David Duchovny are willing to do more. I wasn't crazy about the first episode, but it picked up from there. The third episode is the best. I know it's over now, but I still have the last two episodes left in my DVR. Hope you're well!

I saw the first episode when it was rerun on a weekend and didn't like it at all. So I made no effort to watch any others since they were on in conflict with a show that I watch regularly.

@stealthy If you get a chance, and I'm not sure how you'd do it, watch the third episode called, I think, "Were-Monster". It stands alone, and it is everything we loved about the original show. You won't be sorry if you ever get the chance.

I have heard that a lot of people didn't finish watching the game, I would like to see the new X files when it comes on again.

Hmmm, they're milking it after all these years but I suppose they'll get some new younger viewers who don't remember the original series, and those of us old enough to be nostalgic. Pity it's only going to run for 6 episodes, but maybe it'll be stretched. Scully's long hair isn't as sexy as the short style she used to have! (On the subject of nostalgia, does anyone remember what happened to the Incredible Hulk at the end of the 70s series? Never did see how it finished. It always had a very sad poignant ending each episode with David Banner, AKA Bill Bixby, hitch-hiking while the theme music played)
