Let me join this challenge started by @Raelove Gardening is my passion and I am at a loss to see which flower would get prominence. I have chosen the garlic vine - Mansoa alliacea. I like its purple colour This creeper overpowers every other flower in our garden when it makes up its mind to appear which is twice in the year. Do you have purple flowers in your garden?

These grow easily here. Just a cutting will do. The leaves smell of garlic.

@fishtiger58 Flowers do not have that odour. This plant has many health properties but I have not used it so far. You can see the creeper here.

The only purple flowers I have in my garden are pansies. I have planted tulips but they are not yet in bloom, I do not know which colors they are.

Whenever I look at a Tulip the song Tulips from Amsterdam comes to mind. Purple for any flower is an elegant colour. Its called garlic vine because the leaves have a garlic odour.

@allknowing Gotcha! I'll have to see if there's something like that that grows around here. Thank you again for sharing.

I have all the planting and planning to do, so at this time, I have none. I would like lilac bushes because they range in color from white through various shades of purple and lavender and they have wonderful fragrance. I suspect lilacs do not grow where you are because they need cold winters.

And I think they change colour and remain on the plant for several days. I had that one but not anymore. Must get one.

That problem I have with fruits when squirirels and birds get at them. But I do not mind that at all as I have enough and more. I do not have clematis in our garden.

@allknowing ah, squirrels! how i miss 'em, their antics 'n their sometimes destructive nature :) will clematis grow'n yer part'f the country? took me nearly 30 years to get one to live here. they like their roots cool, yet lots'a sun 'n heat up top. alas, the only pic i've got'f one's the pinkish one in the photo that the drought took :(
