Has the groundhog always seen his shadow?

As far as I remember the groundhog always saw his shadow. Anyone ever know of a time he didn’t?

In 120 years of the groundhog thing, there have been 18 incidences where he saw no shadow @Aingeal . And supposedly this time he didn't see the shadow.

Nanette, Thank you for that. I did not know that. I know I did the research why the holiday started and where it came from. I heard later, after the post, he did not see his shadow and thought to myself, “Well that post was an epic fail.” Haha. I am so glad you let me know this info, I have learned something new today.
