Almost mailed a bill without putting the address on the envelope

I don't know why I did that, but I was in a hurtty to get it to the mailbox, and I put the company name and the post office box, but not the city and state. It is a good thing that I caught it, before I went out to the mailbox. I was putting a stamp on it when I realized that the address wasn't complete. I told myslelf, that it was stupid to try to mail it without the city and state on it, as they wouldn't take it and leave it, and it would be an extra day that it would miss getting there. Have any of you ever done that before, or am I the only one? I guess my mind hasn't been where it should be lately, and not sure why either. Maybe I should go to bed, cover up, and stay there until tomorrow. I know that things will be okay though, as I am thinking while here at least. I hope none of you ever do this, but if you do, at least I hope you catch it before you try to mail it.

I have done that too, but never the address. That was very unusual for me too. I am glad that I caught it when I put the stamp on it, and when I did, I told myself that I was pretty dumb to have done that.

I was writing my address on a form yesterday and, instead of my actual address, for I do not know which reason, I was writing my old address in France. Our brain plays dirty tricks sometimes.

Boy, it sure does. I still don't know why I didn't get the address on it when I was writing on the envelope. I got most of it, and then forgot the city, state, and zipcode. I guess my mind wasn't where it was supposed to be, but now my mind is clear and that won't happen again.

@LadyDuck It is hard to when you move away to a different place, as the old one seems to stick with you, and that could be the reason why. I don't feel bad that I almost mailed it without writing the complete address, as others seem to be forgetting stamps, which I have never done, or writing the wrong adresses altogether.

@rosekiss It's the second time this week that I write my old address, we moved from France 9 years ago and never happened before. It's weird.

You were very lucky on that. When I addressed it, I had put the company name and the P.O. box, and not city, state, or zipcode. I know they would have never tried to mail it, as it could have ended up anywhere, and besides, they would have a hard time figuring out exactly where it shoud go. I am glad I caught it before I took it out to the mailbox.

@allknowing That is probably why since your husband worked for a well know company. It does help to have someone on the inside help you out when you need it. It is a good thing though that you letter got delivered.

@rosekiss My husband was working for a wellknown company. Perhaps that with some more information there could have helped. Anyway the letter was delivered (lol)

Most of my bills come with little windowed envelopes. So my "don't be stupid" challenge is not to put the check in front of the address on the invoice. I've done that a couple of times.

That can happen, as I think it has happened to me a few times too. I had to unseal it too, and of course, I ruined the seal, so I had to put tape on it close it. I don't get many with windows in them, but when I do, I have to be so careful to make sure the check is behind the statement.

@TheHorse Yea, I hear you there, as when I do something stupid, I will ask myself why I did what I did when I knew better. I can ask myself questions, but I better not answer myself back.

I've done a lot of crazy things, but that isn't one of them. I have a hard time thinking while I'm doing something - such as thinking and driving. I need to know where I'm going and how to get there BEFORE I get in the car. It's a good thing my younger son is with me on some occasions as I know where I'm supposed to go but my autopilot will try to go in a completely different direction

I won't drive anywhee that I am not familiar with, unless I use my gps. It is a real blessing to have it, as without it, I would end up in timbuktu someplace. It always gets me where I want to do, and so I use it when I am going to go somewhrre that I am not familiar with.

@just4him I would be lost without my gps as there have been times I didn't use it as I thought I knew where I was going, and I would end up getting really lost. It is amazing how it talks to me and sends me in the right direction I need to go, and I have never had any problems getting where I wanted to go.

Yes, I think you are right, as I wanted to get it into the mail, and almost forgot the stamp. I did catch it before it got there though, so it was never mailed without a stamp.

I do that too, but these are different, and I won't go into it as to why, but they can only be mailed so I put them on the table and take care of them when I get them.

Glad you noticed before you posted it! My problem with letters is that they end up staying in my bag for days, weeks, even months, because I get them ready, take them out with me, and then NEVER remember to post them

That is easy to do, but i would say that I have never ever done that. I need a special place for my bills so I get them sent when I need to. I usually now, just put them on the table on a pile, and pay them by the dates due.

I have done that too, a few times, and it was so frustrating. Now, when I pay, I make sure that the address is showing through the window. i don't get a lot of bills with envelopse like that, but when I do, I try to make sure I do it right.

That would be very easy to do too. I can't remember if I ever forgot a stamp, but forgetting the address was a first for me. I guess I will have to be more careful next time.

I caught mine too, as I was getting ready to go out the door to the mail box, and I ealized that I had forgot the stamp, so I went and put the samp on, and then took to the mail box. I am always doing crazy things, but at least I have been able to redeem myself.

It is easy to do this. I've had to go off and find an address sometimes then forgotten all about it.

I really don't know what made me forget to put the entire address on the envelope, until I put the stamp on. At least I did see it then, and that is a very good thing.

@rosekiss I always put a sticker on the back which has our name and address on it. Charities send these out all the time. At least then the letter has a chance of getting back to me if need be.

I did this once. Luckily, I always put my return address on any envelope even before I write the address, so I did get the envelope returned to me and corrected the problem. I'm glad you discovered your mistake before mailing the bill.

I am too, as it would have come back to me, but I needed to get it out right away, and didn't want to take an extra day to get there. It it weren't for the fact I needed to put a stamp on it, I probably would have forgot to put the address on it.

I have a certain way I do the bills that I mail so I do get that address on there. I check everything before I put a stamp on it.

Now that is funny. At least you didn't forget to put the addresses on. I can imagine what they thought when each of them got the other one's bills. I will admit that i have never done that before, but there is a first time for everything.

This was the very first time for me, and it shouldn't have happened as I knew what I needed to put on the envelope, but I lost my train of thought and what I was doing, and didn't catch it right away, but at least I caught it before i put it in the mailbox.
