~My Dad's A Super Hero~

My husband took our son to the store with him earlier today to get something to change the oil in the van. Someone asked my husband for some change. Everyone was turning the guy away. My husband gave the guy $10. The guy yelled out I have money, I can eat now-thank God! The guy started crying because he was so grateful. My son looked at my husband when they pulled away and said "daddy your a superhero because you help so many people". Jackson told me when they got home mommy my daddy's a superhero! He was so excited to tell me what his daddy did. It melted my heart.

What a lovely husband you have, and what a fine example he's setting your children.

Good point! Kids become what they see their parents do.

@celticeagle Yeah i was so happy to hear that. It made my husband cry because he said he's glad our son feels that way about him since he never felt that way about his own father growing up.

Glad your son got to witness this with his dad. It is something he will always remember. Glad the man had money to eat.

That is so good of your husband and it must have meant so much to the man for him to react the way he did. I'm sure there will be some good karma come from your husband's good deed.

@judyev We have been really blessed the past few months. We just enjoy helping others and being able to pay it forward when we can.

@LovingMyBabies I guess even your husband would have been a bit surprised at the reaction of the man. I would have thought $10 was quite a lot for you to give away at this time.

I gave a can of Coconut water to a lady "begging" at a stop sign yesterday. It was warm, and I knew she needed to stay hydrated. She was appreciative, and thanked me. "Look out for traffic!" she called as I ran back to my truck. "Got it!" I shouted back, waving. Later in the day, I gave a woman from work (whom I don't know personally) a lift to the BART station. As we were driving, we passed a very young couple doing the same thing (stop-sign "begging"). The lady I was giving a lift to said she had stopped helping beggars because some are unappreciative, and some are potentially dangerous. She's not a meanie--she's a Social Services worker who has devoted her career to helping others. But it got me to thinking about why I help sometimes, and don't help other times. It's partially just a matter of whether I have something right there that can be of help.
