Updating an Old Chair

Today I updated an old comfy chair to make it look more modern. I had two old comfy chairs with the big rolled arms from 20 years ago. I was going to get rid of them as they looked old-fashioned, and one had a torn arm. On a lark, I thought I’d try something— I threw out the torn chair but kept the seat cushion. I put it on top of the cushion of the good chair. This elevated the seating surface by about five inches and down-played the big rolled arms. When I sat on it, I was surprised how comfortable it was with the two cushions. It was like sitting on a cloud. It still looked odd with the two cushions on top of each other, so I had the idea to take a matching throw blanket and wrap the two cushions with it. A few tucks later, I had a more modern-looking chair with twice the comfort. I love saving money on home décor, don’t you?

I do like it when we can put new life into old furnishings with just a few simple improvements.
