Should sports club bosses stay out of the dressing room?

The new chief coach of a UK football club has made it very clear to the club's chairman that he wants the latter to stay away from the dressing room and leave all the direct contact with players to him. What do you think? Is it the function of a club boss to show interest in all aspects of the club, including the players, or should he leave the manager he has appointed to do the job he is paid to do, without interference from above?

I get that owners etc often interfere with running a team but when you are an owner and signing everyone's paychecks, then you have the right to go into the dressing room and just any place they care to go.

That is a good question since if the owner of the sports team is around maybe the players will think twice before making comments about their bosses if they are negative to themselves.

I think bosses should put up (the money) and shut up (about the game strategy).

I do not know that much about sports. I think, however, that the chairman would be and should be more interested in the politics of the sport. I feel as if that could get in the way of the coach, and of the overall team's spirit. In short, yes any club chairman should stay away from the players and let the coach do his job.

It is always good when each let the other do the job without interference

Hi John, how are you? Granted the 'boss' pays the salaries of the players, BUT, it is the managers who train the players and call the plays. So the 'boss' should be out @indexer .

I think the boss should show interest but he doesn't necessarily need to be in the dressing room. And he certainly shouldn't interfere in any way with whatever the coach is doing.
