I hate it when road works disrupt my travel plans and once again it seems like the road works on route to my work place has started again, meaning very slow moving traffic is scheduled today. It is good a good job I googled the traffic before work today otherwise I would have been late for work. I am going to have to leave 15 minutes earlier to make sure I get to work on time. Oh I hate road works. I wish they only did them during the weekends!!

I agree, they should do the road works during the weekend.

I would disagree about doing roadworks at the weekend, they used to do that in London and it is really painful because your Saturday trip suddenly becomes worse that a weekday trip.

@pgiblett When I lived in Monte-Carlo, they did the roads during the night and they did it every year due to the F1 Grand Prix that was through the city roads. A real pain!

We don't travel much unless we want to so if there is road work we can put off traveling.

It is not that bad at all. Over here, infrastructure building is on all the time, and sometimes road work can continue for years and years while they dig tunnels for the trains.

That would frustrate me if that happened here. I can't stand waiting in traffic jams :(

I hate road works too especially when I am the one driving. But well, looking at the big picture, roadworks aim to improve our daily travel.

Yeah at times it becomes very difficult for people like you and me and road works are going on. But if we think otherwise these kind of works are very much important for the development.

Road works persons should apply the Chinese way of handling traffic--- either work at night when almost everyone is not travelling or create an effective by-pass to avoid traffic jam in day working hours. Once, I spent about 1 hour and 45 minutes on the road, now imagine, arriving late for a job interview. Oops! I lot the damn job because I was not able to come up with a good reason to explain how 2 hour went unaccounted for and who should have carried the blame. It was not good, but this is life and I have to live it the way it comes... Men At Work! Till another incident.

We may not like it but the work must be done so it's best to make the best of it.Hopefully the work will be done quickly.

There is a lot of roadwork going on here as well. It disrupts traffic and hurts the businesses along the roads as well.

I wonder if they schedule working on roads just so, it will disrupt traffic? :)

Here we say we have two seasons. Winter and road construction. Construction can't be done when the ground is frozen so must be done as much as possible in the warm months. And the freezing/thawing is very hard on roads, so always a lot of construction all summer long.

Atleast search engines provide you with the status of roads. Here motorists have to face it without knowing what is in store.

@gudheart,I agree with you it's too irritating, but fortunately the roads I walk along everyday are now in a very good shape and no road work is going on.Even the road that runs from in front of my house is in a good condition.

Doing road work when people are trying to get to work is ridiculous. It's always a mystery to me why it isn't done during off hours, overnight or as you said, on the weekends.
